Our story: Fostering a love for basketball
Discover East Cheshire Basketball's journey, born from a shared passion for the game. We're dedicated to bringing the joy of basketball to the next generation, focusing on fun, development, and building a thriving community in Cheshire East.
How we are structured
East Cheshire Basketball CIC is a community interest company setup to provide a fully reformed service county wide, with an aim to providing a greater offering for all Cheshire Eats residents, create opportunities for all to get involved with the sport, whilst catering for all abilities and pushing development and allowing for the members to choose how they play the game.
East Cheshire Knights
The performance/competition arm of the ECBCIC, the East Cheshire Knights will enter competitive teams into Junior NBL, the NWRL and potential CVLs in the region. This is the final stage in the developmental pathway for our members who want to compete in organised basketball, and showcase talent above their peers.
East Cheshire Community Basketball League
A new offering in our county, the ECCBL will be an internally hosted community league, where we take our members who play each week and offer them the match day experience in a safe, controlled environment. This allows us to target specific development needs, but also to recruit, encourage and development coaches and officials.
Cheshire East Basketball Initiative
The CEBI is focused on the wider view of the CIC, with fundraising, promoting the offerings we have and working with schools and the press to really grow the view of basketball in the county. We aim to unite the local towns to encourage physical activity through basketball, but also take on volunteering projects to aid the community.

East Cheshire Basketball began with a vision shared by passionate coaches across Cheshire. We believe every young person deserves the chance to experience and fall in love with basketball, just as we did. Recognising the challenges in the UK basketball landscape, we created a new platform to showcase the sport with a focus on fun and development.
