Officiating pathways

Floor Officials
Officiate junior 3x3, youth 5x5, and senior competitive games. Open to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Basketball England certified referees looking for competitive match experience and paid assignments.
Table officials
Operate the official scoreboard, run the 24-second shot clock, and manage official scoresheets. Essential paid roles ensuring fair and professional gameplay across all fixtures.
In House support
Begin your officiating journey with hands-on experience. We provide active mentoring, pairing newly certified officials with experienced crew chiefs in supportive game environments and well as proving a 'try before you buy' option within our ECCBL.

Requirements and qualifications
To ensure high standards and player welfare, all active referees and table officials must meet key league requirements: hold an active Basketball England Level 1, 2, or 3 qualification, maintain an up-to-date Basketball England registration and licence, and provide a valid enhanced DBS check if aged 16 or over. Schedules, claims, and league rules
Current officials can consult and ensure they are up to date on all official competition guidelines. Make sure you are familiar with all specific league rules, timing formats, and foul regulations before tip-off.
